Welcome to Moon Bears retreat, a newly renovated mid-century modern Big Bear Lake cabin! This spacious two-level, 2 bedroom, 2 bath cabin sits on a dog-friendly fenced lot, and can easily accommodate 6 guests. We offer free Netflix, HBO Max, Disney Plus, Peacock TV, Hulu & ESPN+ for your in-home entertainment! And a firepit table for outdoor dining and an 8-person hot tub to relax! You will find parking easy and flat on a corner lot. And, if you must have a workspace, you will find that too! We have named this mountain home of ours "Moon Bears Retreat", in the honor of two moon bear cubs, Anh and Em, we adopted earlier this year. They were rescued on July 18, 2020 by Animal Asia. We have pledged to support them for the duration of their lives. There are only 25,000 of these moon bears left, and Animal Asia is dedicated to rescue and rehabilitate as many of these moon bears as they can. To support their effort, we have pledged to donate a portion of our annual earnings from Moon Bears Retreat to Animal Asia. We know this is a drop in the bucket, but did want to stand in solidarity with Rickey Gervais, Judy Dench and others. See "Ricky Gervais adopts Peace by Piece bear". Also see "Help a bear Ricky Gervais". We also wanted to create a space that we could retreat into. We live in Los Angeles, with two kids, two dogs and high pressure jobs. We wanted a place to retreat into, away from the noise, chaos, and the demands of daily life. To create such a space, we have lovingly decorated and furnished this mountain home of ours with luxurious and beautiful fabrics, fixtures and furnitures from Pottery Barn, West Elm, Marriott & others. The goal was to be simple, clean, inviting, warm, cozy and peaceful. A space where we can live every moment! We have tried to do our best, and only hope that you would agree. Moon Bears Retreat is a two-level modern cabin, filled with mid-century modern decor. We have two bedrooms, two full baths and can accommodate six people. We would like to invite you and your loved ones to spend a few days or months, if you like. We only ask that you be kind to our home, and the furnishings it contains, and treat it like you would your own home! We are on a (fenced) corner lot surrounded by California Black Oaks and Pine trees. We recently planted a few baby Leyland Cypress trees as well, that will provide ultimate evergreen privacy over time, as they grow up. Being on a corner lot, we are open on three sides, providing wide open airspaces and privacy just as it is. If you are traveling with (well mannered, house broken) dogs, you may let them have free access to our fenced back yard. Please be sure to clean them up before letting them back into the house. We know how difficult it is to travel without them. So while we allow dogs in our home, please treat our home like you would yours. In our backyard, you will find a brand new 8-person hot tub, with over 56 jets to help you relax after a day spent hiking and skiing. We take great care in keeping it clean, and sanitized. Please ensure that you leave it just the way you found it. Inside the house, besides the clean and modern decor, you will find FREE access to Netflix, HBO Max, Disney Plus, Hulu & ESPN. Yes, you read that right. These subscriptions are prepaid for your enjoyment. You may also want to help yourself to a glass of wine or scotch from the bar cart at no charge to you. You will have to check-in with my wonderful co-host, in person, and will be given the code to access the house. Please do not share this code with anyone unauthorized to access the property. You can park up to 2 cars in front of our house. We are available 24/7 if there is anything urgent that needs to be addressed. Up to (2) dogs allowed per stay. We are located in a very quiet neighborhood, on a corner lot, at an elevation of 7010 feet, in the lower Moonridge area, within walking distance to the Zoo and the Golf-course. The Bear Mountain Ski Resort is a 3-min drive up along the Moonridge Rd. You may also drive down to Vons, Stater Bros, Walgreens, Maggio's Pizza and other convenience & groceries stores within 5-min driving distance. During Winter months, Bear Mountain Ski Resort offers free shuttle service, every 30 mins, to/from Snow Summit. The nearest shuttle stop is 1-min walking distance at the corner of Moonridge Rd and Plymouth Rd. (Stop ID: 216). You will also find the parking to be easily accessible, especially during the winter months. We are 5 mins of driving distance from intersection of Big Bear Blvd. and Moonridge Rd. It is eminently walkable during summer, spring and fall, but I prefer to drive during winters, as it snows heavily during winter months. Regardless, you will find easy and quick access to all nearby stores for groceries, drinks, restaurants, and any medical supplies (god forbid), should you need one. Please read all house rules BEFORE you book our cabin: * DEPOSIT: Our cabin has expensive furnishings from Pottery Barn, West Elm, Marriott and other sources. We, therefore, require a $500 refundable deposit for all guests, which is requested through Airbnb via the resolution centre. It is refunded within 7 days after your stay concludes. * If bringing pets, it is $75 per pet, per stay to accommodate our cleaning crew. We ONLY allow dogs ( 2) * NO PARTIES: Parties of any kind are strictly prohibited. If you are planning on having a party, please find another place. This place is not for you. Moon Bears Retreat is intended for guests looking for a quiet getaway in the mountains. * NO SMOKING INSIDE: We have a very strict no-smoking policy. The fee is $500 for a violation and we are VERY STRICT ON THIS. * SECURITY CAMERAS: For the safety & security of the property, we have exterior cameras monitoring all front and back areas of the house including the spa. However, we value your privacy so in case you want us to snooze the back camera always happy to discuss it! * RENTAL AGREEMENT: We do require a separate rental agreement to be e-signed & returned within 24 of your confirmed booking, Valid Government IDs, contact info and other necessary information. Happy to answer any questions on this! * REMOVAL OF TRASH: The City of Big Bear Lake does NOT have a trash pick-up service and hence mandates that guests must remove their own trash. Guests are responsible for taking their trash to one of the city's trash dump sites at the end of each stay. * OCCUPANCY: Big Bears Retreat can comfortably accommodate 6 adults. We also have a travel crib for 1 child (Under 2 years old) *CHAINS: Chains are required at all times during the winter season. Guests are responsible for checking the weather forecast and road restrictions. *CLEANING SERVICE: Our Cabin is well-cleaned and disinfected after each stay by our trusted cleaners who know our house inside and out. However, please note housekeeping is not provided daily, only before and after your stay. *SNOW REMOVAL: Snow removal is arranged prior to check-in time, but guests may need to shovel their parking spot(s) especially if they arrive late after it's been snowing or if it snows during their stay. Thank You! License number 2021-0838 To comply with our city permit, there is a $45 charge for dish cleaning in case they are not washed before your check-out. If there is trash in the property, there will be an additional charge of $25 per bag. Excessive noise or loud music heard at the property line is prohibited by the CITY for the consideration of the local residents. The CITY enforces quiet hours from 10:00 PM – 7:00 AM and will send out code enforcement officers to issue fines/and or evict guests for any violations reported. There will be a $300 administrative fine per Code Call for our team to show up as we are required to attend such code call within 30 minus, plus $100 per hour of our time spent for the violation. This is IN ADDITION to any fines issued by Code Enforcement which start at $500 to $5000 per violation.
